Checking Charleston, SC off the Bucket List
Charleston, South Carolina is a city that has always been on my bucket list and I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful city with some of my best friends. The city itself has that southern charm with a bright summer vibe. The city has absolutely stunning architecture with colorful buildings and palm trees. What else could you possibly want? We spent one day in this city and I am already counting down until I can go back because it was so much fun. Of course I had to take my Nikon with me to capture the charm of this city but even the best photographer could not manage to do that because it is oh so perfect! Keep reading this post to see some of the shots I took on my Nikon and to read about our adventures in Charleston.
We started the morning off at an adorable southern boutique, Vestique! They had such cute stuff and the aesthetic of the shop itself was amazing! Definitely a must if you’re on a girls trip and want to do some shopping - they even have this cute little mirror decor that is the perfect photo op. We went to the location that is in Mount Pleasant which is just outside of Charleston. We stopped there on our way into the city and it was a great start to our morning! Vestique has several locations and an amazing online selection so be sure to check it out!
For lunch, we headed to Butcher and Bee which is a cute southern brunch spot. The branding on this little place is excellent as it is decorated head to toe in all things honeycombs and bees. Even the parking lot had cute little bee details! It was also great to eat outside in the warm sun because all of us traveling were used to the cold Ohio weather. One of the most unique things about this cafe was that it gave the bills to customers in a book that had signatures from previous visitors. It was something so cute and unique that added to the sweet charm of this restaurant.
Next we headed into downtown Charleston where we explored around the markets. It was super cool to see all the vendors and unique things Charleston has to offer. We also stopped at Kilwins to get a sweet treat. After exploring on our own for a bit, we went to the Charleston Carriage Works for a horse drawn carriage ride! This was my favorite part of the day because we got to see so much of the city all while hearing information on all things Charleston. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and gave us the scoop on Charleston’s history- from war battles to pointing out scenes from the famous romance movie, The Notebook! Our tour included a ride down Rainbow Row which is absolutely incredible and so picturesque. We saw beautiful, million dollar houses that pictures don’t do justice!
Following our tour, we decided to head to some of the sites we saw while in the carriage. We walked to Rainbow Row to have a mini photoshoot in front of the gorgeous architecture and colorful buildings. We definitely weren’t the only people taking advantage of the picture-perfect backdrops and I highly recommend stopping here if you ever find yourself in the city.
We also went and saw the pineapple fountain which has so much character. The pineapple is the symbol of Charleston because it stands for the welcoming southern hospitality. The area around the pineapple fountain was so peaceful with a view of the water and so much greenery. If we had had more time in the city, I definitely would’ve enjoyed spending more time in this area! The symbol of the pineapple can be found all throughout the charming southern city and seeing this fountain is definitely a must for people visiting the city.
Following all of our adventures during the day, we headed to Henry’s for dinner. This charming restaurant is full of southern style and even had live music! It was a great way to end the day in Charleston.
And that’s a wrap- I hope you enjoyed reading about all of our adventures in the charming city of Charleston!
All of the images of the buildings were taken on my Nikon and edited in Lightroom! Some of the group shots were taken on an iPhone and edited by my talented friends. Building photographs of the city of Charleston are property of Kelsey Haver Designs and cannot be used without written permission.
